Sox news

July 15, 2007 by Mike

It looks like the Red Sox no longer feel that they need to add a pitcher and they are now looking to acquire a big time bat. The team the Sox are looking at is the Cincinnati Reds. Apparently, Red Sox assistant GM Allan Baird attended the Mets- Reds game on Friday night to scout out possible talent.Possible names being thrown out are Adam Dunn, who will be a free agent and Ken Griffey Jr.

What the Red Sox need to do is travel back in time and Not sign J.D. Drew, that guy is a stiff. If they acquire a bat where does he play? Who gets designated/cut/traded?

Mike100915, do you think you can post links and other blogs that you use for this info? Or are you an inside Source? Can you post rebuttals, and a mailbag type like Simmons does? Keep up the good work, I am glad I came across this blog – it beats most of the other stuff on WordPress.

What kind of interest do the Sox have in Brad Lidge and possibly Roy Oswalt, if available? If any, what price would the Sox pay? I cannot see moving Jacoby Ellsbury, possibly Coco could fit into Houston’s plans, but I am sure it would require one of their young arms as well to get either of those guys. Can the Sox afford to stand pat as they come down the stretch in the AL East which is sure to get tighter, with the Yanks always looming and the Jays (if healthy) seem poised to make a mini run of their own.

I think that Choke-o and Wily Mo would be of interest to the Astros. Throw in a young arm, I don’t think it has to be a top tier prospect either and get Brad Lidge. I’m assuming that Oswalt is off the market after signing an extension with the ’stros.
