According to Nick Cafardo on the NESN pregame show “I hear the Red Sox are trying to do something very big, and it will cost them one of their front-line, young pitchers”. Most likely the player the Sox would be targeting would be Mark Teixeria. The Oakland A’s don’t appear to be interested in Joel Pineiro for Bobby Kielty. One other name to keep in mind that the Sox may try to acquire is old friend Mark Loretta.
Note: For people who love Mark Teixeria you must look at his splits. He’s much better against Right-handed pitchers which nowadays is good. But, look at his numbers playing in Texas and his road numbers : http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bsplit.cgi?n1=teixema01&year=00
Bobby Kielty Sucks, I am glad we are not getting him. Long live Wily MO! I would like the Loretta move, but will he want to be a utility guy?
