Patriots To Pursue Nnamdi Asomugha ?

Perhaps the top player on the free-agent market this spring will be Nnamdi Asomugha. He is considered by many to be the best shut-down cornerback in the NFL. But, his signing will come at a very high price. Something the Patriots traditionally don’t do. Especially for cornerbacks. Just look at there history of corner’s who have left for bigger deals: Ty Law, Asante Samuel, Randall Gay, and a few others. That all being said, according to ESPN’s, Matt Williamson, the Patriots look to be a serious player for the services of Asomugha:
Steve (Rochester, NY): Do you think that Nnamdi Asomugha’s hiring of Tom Condon last week is an indication that he wants out of Oakland or simply that he doesn’t want a repeat of last year (franchise tag)?
Matt Williamson : No question. Already hearing rumors that the Pats want him.
