Michael Young Anyone ?

There has been a rumor making the rounds that the Red Sox and Texas Rangers are working on a deal that would send Michael Bowden and Daniel Bard to Texas for Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Then last night came word that Rangers shortstop Michael Young has demanded a trade, since the team asked him to move to third base to make room for Elvis Andrus. This could be the perfect situation for the Red Sox to add another veteran impact bat that they want.
It could cost you Clay Buchholz instead of Bowden, but this is a deal that may interest the Sox. Young, signed a five-year $80 Million dollar contract in 2007, so he won’t come cheaply, but because of his salary you will not have to give-up your best propects to get him.
Baseball has been affected by the economy, so mamy teams will be unable to take on Young’s $16 Million a year salary and the Red Sox still have plenty of move to spend. Since their offseason money has been spent mainly on reclaimation projects. One thing that may worry the Red Sox is that Young’s OBP, OPS, and slugging have dropped every year since 2005.
