chrisberman Is Anyone Else Sick of Chris Berman?

The most tired act in sports was at it again last night, as bad and annoying as ever.  Chris Berman put on a show for the ages, for the ages of major sucking.  Please get a new act you lame ass douche bag.  It’s a shame you actually had a big role in making ESPN big and now you are a joke on the level of Joe Buck Live, Joe Morgan or Tim McCarver.

Wow. Nail, on the head. We are of like minds. Here is my rant:

    Interesting post.

I actually don’t know if I agree with your top ranking complains. I believe I have some complaints that rank higher.

    1. His Obnoxious 70 year old man pretending to be a hip teenager “woop!” catch phrase. When I was young (elementary/middle school), I guess I thought the “He… Could… Go… All.. The.. Way!” was cool. Since then I’ve learned that sports guys that manufacture really lame catch phrases tend to be the guys that just need to be slapped. [Examples: Joe Buck: "Slam-a-lam-a-ding-dong!" yeah... I know it was a kitsch joke, but it didn't work and he is HORRIBLE, talentless, and painful to listen to in general. Hawk Harrelson, yeah he is knowledgeable, but his need to come up with a new catch phrase every night that is lamer than the last.... puh-lease!.] But when I heard his pathetic attempt to reinvent himself with the “woop!”… NO ONE, YOU WHITE, BALD, OLD MAN, THINKS THAT IS COOL! (lol)

    2. All of the “classic ESPN” stuff. No one cares, and it’s dumb.

    3. Once I was watching ESPN and he started doing his ‘NFL This Week Preview’ bit. A couple sentences in and he said “Okay, cut, let me do that again”… awkward pause… the ESPN logo… and then cut to another bit. I don’t remember exactly what he said or didn’t like about the first LIVE take, but it sounded pathetic. A few minutes later, they cut to him again, and he started it again from the top. It was VERY embarrassing.

This last incident, and others like it make me wonder if he is a prima donna. He comes off as one on TV. I think it would be best for ESPN and their viewers to put him out to pasture.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I was listening to Berman on espn radio calling the phillies/rockies NLDS game 1 and he was trying to argue that cleveland indian fans should be really excited, because all of their former players are doing so well this post season (sabathia, victor martinez, cliff lee, betancourt). That’s like trying to tell an expos fan (if there are any) that they should be really proud of all their former players on other teams. What a moron. His play by play also sucks. If he’s not making a bad play by play call, then he’s sucking wind and you can’t even understand him. And don’t get me started about him trying to announce a hockey game. Awful.

Pardon the throwback but … Berman is a cross between Buddy Hackett and Ted Knight.
    The man is an idiot.

I am with you, I am so sick of Chris Berman that I would rather watch my local sports analyst than ESPN when he is on. I don’t know what he has on ESPN, but they must be keeping him on for some reason. He is by far the most annoying personality on television, I put him right beside Rossie O’donnel.
PLEASE….PLEASE….ESPN !!!!!!!!!!! DO SOMETHING WITH THIS GUY !!!!!!!!!! HE IS A HACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
