Could Charlie Weis Be On His Way Back To New England ?

t1 weis Could Charlie Weis Be On His Way Back To New England ?

    From NY Daily News:

By the way, one of my Bucs peeps tells me that the word around the Bucs is that Gruden could be going to Notre Dame to replace Charlie Weis. Sounds a little farfetched, but as the theory goes: The school will buy out Weis as soon as he signs his recruiting class, in two or three weeks, and hire Gruden. Heard from someone close to the Notre Dame program that there’s a weird vibe around the football offices. Hmmm.

340x2 BC Set To Name Frank Spaziani Head Coach

    From Boston Herald:

Boston College will name longtime defensive coordinater Frank Spaziani as its new head coach in a press conference this afternoon.

Spaziani will become the program’s 34th head coach, taking over for Jeff Jagodzinski, who was fired after two years at the helm after a bitter breakup with athletic director Gene DeFilippo over an interview with the New York Jets.

Spaziani, 61, has been at BC since 1997 and is regarded as a favorite of the players. He has been the defensive coordinator since 1999 and his defenses have often been among the nation’s best.

    Our Lock Of 2009

tebow and girlfriend1 Our Lock Of 2009

Tonight at 8pm on Fox: University of Florida Gators -3 over the Oklahoma Sooners. We love the Gators. This games isn’t even going to be close. The Big 12 has been vastly overrated. Just look at how Texas Tech and Texas both performed in their bowl games. Alabama didn’t exactly help the cause of the Gators and the SEC after their trouncing loss to Utah, but the Gators are on a whole different level.

Nothing beats SEC speed. Even with a 90% Percy Harvin the Gators are going to be all over the Sooners early and often. Both teams have offenses that are on a different level then the rest of the country, but the difference is Florida has a defense that can stop Oklahoma, the Sooners D however has had a difficult time stopping good offenses.

    Prediction: Florida 45 Oklahoma 24

Could This Be The Face Of The Next BC Head Coach ?

    January 8, 2009 by Mike · Leave a Comment

    Richmond N Iowa Football

The names of Steve Logan and Frank Spaziani aren’t exactly going to aspire recruits to go to Boston College and it probably won’t go over to well with alumni if they name either of them coach. BC wants a coach there for the long haul. It’s not an easy job. There are strict grade restrictions at BC and it isn’t the easiest school to recruit for.

So where does BC turn ?

One name that has popped up is University of Richmond’s Mike London, who just won the Divison 1 A championship this past December in his first year at the school. London has previously workd at BC from 1997-2000 as there defensive line coach. This could perhaps be the best hire for the school. They’d get some good publicity for hiring an African-American coach, especially one in the ACC. London, has been known to of been an excellent recruiter while at Virginia with Al Groh, and he is a young (48) and up-and-coming coach, something that BC needs. They need fresh blood at the school. He’s proved in only one season that he can win. If BC is to contend with the Florida State’s, Miami’s, and North Carolina in the ACC, London is the kind of coach they need. The school gambled on Jeff Jagodzinski and it paid off for two years, but gambling on London could change the program forever.

The downside: London might not want to leave Richmond just yet, and if he comes to BC, is he here for the long haul ? Those are the questions BC needs to answer. But with the fallout over the firing of Jagodzinski, London would be the breath of fresh air that the school needs. Something that neither Logan or Spaziani could give.

London is the father of Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon London, who went to UMass.

Longshot candidate: Brian Kelly of Cincinnati. He’s from the Boston area (Chelsea) but more than likely he is holding out for a big time coaching gig. He is strongly watching what happens with Charlie Weis at Notre Dame.

That’s what you get Mr. Maualuga for messing with my girl and future Mrs. Sons of Simmons, Erin Andrews. The lifetime ban for Maualuga can only be lifted if he is drafted by the Patriots.

Maualuga joins a list of: David Wright (for the rumor he may have slept with Andrews) Mike Lansing, Eugene Chung, Andy Katenzmoyer, Darren Bragg, Pervis Ellison, Tony Danza, Roberto Costa, Pink, Craig Kilborn,Ulf Samuelsson, Jack Tatum, Sarah Jessica Parker, Scott Sisson, Steve Heinze and Dante Bichette as members of people banned from Sons of Simmons.

But, he did apologize for his actions. From LA Times:

Responding to inquiries from media outlets, USC issued a statement regarding a video that captured linebacker Rey Maualuga dancing behind unsuspecting ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews before the Rose Bowl game.

“The situation was addressed immediately,” the statement said. “Rey both e-mailed and spoke to Erin and apologized to her. He realized he made a mistake and used poor judgment. He deeply regrets his actions.”

Andrews has declined to comment. Maualuga could not be reached for comment.

“We appreciate the apology,” ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said.

boston college jeff jagodzinski looking confident Its Official Jeff Jagodzinski Will Be Fired Today

    From Boston.com:

Jeff Jagodzinski will be fired as the Boston College football coach this morning in a meeting with athletic director Gene DeFillippo, according to sources close to the program.

After meeting with the New York Jets in yesterday in New Jersey regarding their opening for a head coach, Jagodzinski called DeFilippo last night, setting up a face-to-face meeting this morning. They will finalize the details of his termination in the meeting. Jagodzinski has three years remaining on the contract.

A press conference is expected to be scheduled for later today.

BC officials are expected to move swiftly to replace Jagodzinski, who won 20 games in two seasons as the program’s head coach. Defensive coordinator Frank Spaziani is the leading candidate to replace Jagodzinski, although athletic department officials will also conduct a search outside the program for possible candidates.
