Sean Avery needs to stop being a piece of shit and instigating fights then trying to avoid them like a pussy.  I love the fight in the Bruins and Tim Thomas.  If he stays hot the Bruins might actually get out of the first round.

Phil Kessel Out Up To A Month

kessel phil 515x250 Phil Kessel Out Up To A Month

From Boston.com:

Boston GM Peter Chiarelli said tonight that third-year forward Phil Kessel, diagnosed this afternoon with mononculeosis, could be out of the lineup for approximately a month.

”The general assessment of mononucleosis is that a guy is typically out around a month,” said Chiarelli. ”That said, it could be longer, could be shorter…all based on how an individual recovers.”

The Bruins will play 13 games over the next month.

For now, said Chiarelli, he remains faithful that the kids from Providence can keep doing the job, help the Bruins maintain their standing atop the Eastern Conference.

”Before being hit by this epidemic, so to speak,” said Chiarelli, ”I had made a few calls and received a few calls [from other GMs]. And even with the injuries to Marco and Bergy, we weren’t on a full-scale search for help. We’ve got faith in the kids we call up, and in the meantime, we’ll continue to assess.”

Is The Career Of Patrice Bergeron Over ?

While the Boston Bruins were beating the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, they suffered yet another major injury. This one was to center, Patrice Bergeron. Who for the second consecutiveyear suffered a concussion, reports Boston.com. This one doesn’t look to be as severe as the one he had last season, which caused him to miss 72 games. But with each concussion you get, it makes you more susceptible to getting another one. It’s likely that Bergeron will be back sometime this year, but it will definitely influence how he plays the rest of his career. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities that we may never see him back. The state of concussions in the NHL is growing rapidly. It has ended numerous careers. Both Eric Lindros and his brother Brett’s careers ended due to concussions. It would be a sad way for Bergeron to go out. Whose once promising career has been derailed over the past two seasons due to his head injuries. More from Boston.com:

Peter Chiarelli hasn’t spoken with Patrice Bergeron yet today, but the reports the GM has gotten from Mass. General Hospital were good enough that he sounded encouraged about the center’s condition.

“I know he’s a strong kid,” said Chiarelli. “He’ll get over this. We’ve seen a lot of players recover from second concussions and they’re stars. There’s [Simon Gagne] in Philly right now.”

Chiarelli said Bergeron, who remained at Mass. General last night, was feeling much better today and was allowed to go home. Bergeron, according to Chiarelli, felt significantly worse on Oct. 28, 2007, the day after his Grade 3 concussion last season.

Bergeron, said Chiarelli, is in good spirits. His parents traveled to Boston yesterday and are with him now. He is under orders to rest today and will be re-examined during the week.

Move Over Red Sox, We Got Some New Pink Jersey’s In Town

It’s called Bruins. That’s how it suppose to go right ? Well, with the Bruins (17-4-4) off to a white-hot start the inevitable pink jersey’s and hat sales  come with it. The problem is the Bruins don’t exactly know their fan base too well. The Bruins have plenty of fans who pee sitting down. The problem is, that these North Shore chicks, yeah that’s what they are, they want to wear the authentic Marc Savard jersey’s, or some throwback Don Sweeney, or Craig Janney jersey. Not a pink one. These aren’t Red Sox fans. Bruins fans are about as die-hard as they come and they need to be. They have had very little too cheer about in the last 15 years. These aren’t your fake female Red Sox fans, who begam watching the Sox in the fall of 2004. They won’t be buying any pink jersey’s. I mean, have you seen them ? They look like John Goodman with long hair.

Don’t Call Milan Lucic A Hunchback

December 4, 2008 by Mike · Leave a Comment

Dont Call Milan Lucic A Hunchback

This story is a bit old, but with the Boston Bruins playing well, and Milan Lucic leading the team, I thought people might like to revisit this famous Lucic story. When Lucic was 15-years-old he went through a growth spurt, and in that spurt brought really bad posture. Lucic was unable to straighten his back. So, eventually he went to see a doctor and he was diagnosed with Scheuermann’s disease, a condition that causes the upper back to curve. With his new conditon brought on taunts by the opposing teams, something that Lucic didn’t take to kindly too. So when Kyle Beach ( who was drafted 11th overall in the NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks) made a hunchback like pose to Lucic, he didn’t think twice about showing off his fighting skills. From the Boston Globe:

The condition didn’t affect his play until some opponents started to notice his back. Two years ago, Everett forward Kyle Beach shrugged his shoulders at Lucic in a hunchback style. The enraged Bruins prospect chased Beach, and several games later beat him up.

Last season, Kamloops defenseman Ryan Bender called Lucic a hunchback during a game and was slapped with a game misconduct, which was later changed to a 10-minute misconduct.

“You don’t like to see that,” Lucic said. “You hope guys are classier than that. But guys who do that have it coming to them. You just take care of it.”
