The Deadline to Sign Draft Picks For Red Sox Is Tomorrow

With the MLB Draft just a couple of months ago, tomorrow is the deadline to sign draft picks. The Red Sox have signed most of their picks, according to reports they may have signed their top 14 picks. Most notable, there are reports that they have signed 5th round pick and pride of Rhode Island’s  Ryan Westmoreland, who had 1st round talent, but wanted big money or else he was going to Vanderbilt. Also, they may have signed 4th round pick Peter Hissey who had a full ride to the University of Virginia, and has drawn comparisons to one of the Red Sox top prospects Ryan Kalish. That is the good news, but they do have a couple of later rounds pick with just as much talent who also want big money, and some have Scott Boras as their rep. The big name to watch is pitcher Alex Meyer, who has a full-ride to Kentucky, and there is talk the Red Sox have offered him up to $2 Million Dollars, but he really wants to goto school. Had Meyer of considered going pro he would have been a top 20 pick. Other names to watch for are Navery Moore who will also goto Vanderbilt if he doesn’t sign, and slugger Ricky Oropesa who has a full-ride to USC. The Red Sox are going to make every attempt to sign some of those young guns, but their desire to go to college and money are what is going to make the decisions.
