Red Sox News

This comes from Dan Graziano of the Star-Ledger:
There was talk Tuesday that the Dodgers and Angels had joined the Manny Ramirez hunt, with the Dodgers moving Andre Ethier plus prospects (although manager Joe Torre may not be in favor of the move). But neither team is likely to add payroll, especially at that level, and overall the Ramirez buzz seemed to be simmering down, as it always does around July 30
The Yankees and Marlins are among the teams that have called on Laird. The Red Sox, who are looking for catching for this year and beyond, like Teagarden. Lots of teams like Saltalamacchia, who came over in the Mark Teixeira trade a year ago, but he might be the costliest of the bunch. Texas obviously won’t deal all of these guys, but having them all puts the Rangers in a position of strength.
Seattle is willing to listen to offers on closer J.J. Putz but would have to get a big offer. St. Louis and Boston are interested.
