Michael Wilbon Thinks Kimbo Fight Was Fixed

On yesterday’s addition of Pardon the Interruption, co-host Michael Wilbon and Dan Re Le Batard had this back and forth, describing the Kimbo Slice fight that happened on Saturday night:

That was a more phantom punch than Ali had to knock out Liston in that fight in 1965,” Wilbon said of Petruzelli knocking Kimbo to the canvas. “Kimbo Slice, your boy, is a fraud.”

Wilbon’s on-air partner Dan Le Batard then said, point blank, “Are you saying it was fixed?”

Wilbon replied, “Yes.”

Then Wilbon went onto comparing MMA to wrestling, namely WWE and saying that ”It was fixed. Wrestling was fixed, I loved it all my life. It was fixed.” Now, the man who knocked out Kimbo Slice, Seth Petruzelli claimed that Elite XC would pay him more money if he did not take Kimbo down to the ground. That is a cause for concern, but Wilbon saying the fight was fixed is way off base. It shows his lack of knowledge and unwillingness to acknowledge the new sports giant known as MMA.
