September 10, 2008 by Mike
I guess this is starting to become a motif in New York. Earlier last week a man was arrested for impersonating Yankees star Joba Chamberlain, now comes word that Michael Anderson pretended to be get this, Kenny Anderson. Yeah, that of Kenny Anderson bankrupt fame, and the recently divorced Kenny Anderson whose wife was on the Real World, and took all of his money, and she now has a licence plate that reads “His Money”, that Kenny Anderson. Smart idea pal. I wonder if I can pass for Chris Herren ? More on this story from Newsday:
A man who on three occasions posed as a New York City basketball legend as part of a confidence scheme to dupe and defraud unsuspecting victims in Long Beach was arrested Tuesday, police said.
Michael Anderson, 43, of Far Rockaway, approached the victims and identified himself as Kenny Anderson, a Queens native who played in the NBA for more than a decade, Long Beach police said.
The suspect feigned that he had locked his keys in his car and asked each victim for a ride to a locksmith. Once at the locksmith he asked to borrow money to pay the locksmith with the promise of repaying the victim later — only never to be seen again, police said.
