Don’t Call Him Ron
July 14, 2008 by Mike
It appears that Ron Artest is going the Pacman Jones route. With all the negativity attached to the Dean of Mean’s name, he now wants to go by his middle name William Artest. This is the new trend in sports with players changing their names hoping that will clean up their image. The trend setter may have been William James, formerly known as William Peterson, now we see it with Pacman and now Ron Artest. It has been done in the past for religious reasons with Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, who used be Chris “Action” Jackson, but the changing of the first name is the players new way of hoping people forget about their crime filled past, or in Artest’s case hoping they forget the mayhem at the Palace, or pantsing Paul Pierce. Well, next time you’re at the Garden and see Ron Artest, don’t forget to call him William, or else he may go Jermaine O’ Neal on you.

The Lakers wanted to trade Odom for Artest a long time ago back when Artest was with the Pacers. And the Lakers never did it. Now the Lakers make it back to the NBA finals with a Lamar Odom. Whats the point in trading for Artest now? I heard also that the Lakers might sign Pau’s buddy Jorge Garbajosa. That would be a great replacement for Turiaf.
