“Are you Jewish ?”

It looks like Reggie Jackson’s nickname will never be the “Hebrew Hammer”, after haggling over the price of a painting. Mr. October, had some less than complementing comments about Jewish people. Apparently, Reggie doesn’t like to bargain with people of Jewish faith. It was all caught on tape too, and it can be seen right here. Reggie told the men:
Jackson was on East 61st Street and Madison Avenue, negotiating with a painter, when he asked the artist, “Are you Jewish?” according to Post lensman Larry Schwartzwald.
Schwartzwald then turned on his video camera and asked Jackson why he made the remark.
“You Jewish, too?” asked Jackson.
Mr. October then explained that the artist was driving a hard bargain and said he asked the man if he was Jewish “because he’s always working me.”
I guess these guys underestimated the magnitude of Reggie, or didn’t know he was the straw that stirs the drink. Reggie, being a nice guy is about as believable as this Jeff Van Gundy story.
RJ better be lucky we do not have sweeping hate crime laws in this country. Rabid anti-Semitism will not be excused, even coming from repressed minorities.
