NFL Network To Shock And Awe Television Audience
Posted by Mike on August 19, 2008
In the boldest move in the NFL Networks history, they will have Sterling Sharpe do play-by-play, and have Deion Sanders and Marshall Faulk be color analysts (is that racially insensitive ? ok, game analysts) for the Bills/Colts game according to the Chicago Tribune. I don’t care what the score is, I am watching the entire game, and I am going to DVR it as well. This will be the greatest television event this summer. Forget about the Olympics or The Hills. There is never enough Sterling Sharpe on TV, this guy has some of the best lines, for instants- “Tom Brady’s favorite receiver, is the open receiver”. Lines like that are simply priceless. All that the NFL Network is missing is one Emmitt Smith. I don’t know if an American audience could handle that much butchering of the English language. No word yet if they will use interpreters for Sterling Sharpe and Deion Sanders. The Tribune writes:
INDIANAPOLIS – Former Green Bay Packers receiver Sterling Sharpe will try his hand at play-by-play.
An NFL analyst for 12 years, Sharpe will call the game for the NFL Network when Buffalo visits Indianapolis for a preseason game Sunday. It will be the first NFL game at the Colts’ new Lucas Oil Stadium.
Sharpe will be joined by analysts Marshall Faulk and Deion Sanders, with Adam Schefter reporting from the sidelines.

Actually, Sterling is well-spoken and easy to understand. Maybe you’re getting him confused with his mush-mouthed brother Shannon, or maybe you’re racist.

Oh, and Deion talks intelligibly as well. You may not like what comes out of his mouth, but at least you can make out the words.
